With a carnival-esque and theatrical twist, Mighty Mighty has an interior harking back to the days of the ‘Six o’clock swill’ standing bar. Formerly a Pakistani restaurant, the building’s turn-of-the-century proportions were reinstated through the design, revealing one large room. An alternative culture of bohemian/avant-garde/artists colonize the space, expressing the subversive spirit of Cuba Street. Half of the space operates as standing room only, provoking constant social encounters of an unusual nature.
The wacky façade, with its blue & cream zigzags, red stars, gold trims and flags is reminiscent of the turrets of Moscow, standing out in the Cuba Street architecture like a beacon of strangeness.
