This residence responded specifically to the site and its orientation. The contemporary design maximises winter sun and provides shelter from the summer heat. The design has strong geometric elements – stone and concrete facades combine with large glass panels set in horizontal lines. The open airy home provides sight lines to public spaces across the interior, while natural light infuses the home at every turn.

Exposed steel beams provide an aesthetic as well as structural advantage for the contemporary, up-scale home. Passive temperature regulation is achieved as cross ventilation draws cool air from the surface of the pool into the home. A central design consideration for the project was the owner’s requirement for floor to ceiling glass to appear as a void in the elevation. Overall, the splicing of residence, pool and landscaping creates the feeling of living outside for the owners.
