By 2006 this heritage listed house, built in 1956 and designed by Mockridge Stahle Mitchell Architects, had fallen into major disrepair. A team of architects, building designers, builders and Austin Design Associates have worked to restore and extend the house retaining the spirit of the original design.

The existing floor plan consisted of two bedrooms, a study, a kitchen at the rear of the house and a stunning living room with views of the bay. A major rework of the floor plan was undertaken to make the spaces work for today’s family life, however the original fabric of the house was kept intact. Children’s rooms were added downstairs along with a home cinema and large garage. All of these were added without disrupting the original facade.

The interior design was simple and sympathetic to the original contemporary style of the house. The 1956 exterior colour scheme was researched and reinstated.
