The site for the award winning Smiths Beach Resort in Yallingup Western Australia is located on the land of the original Canal Rocks Beach Resort. The development comprises new 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom accommodation options and reinvents the entire site with its modern coastal architectural style. In addition a proportion of the existing caravan and camping areas has also been retained and redeveloped and a new set of specially designed ‘transportable’ cabins have been brought to the site establishing a diversity of holiday accommodation. The shop and restaurant have also been transformed into contemporary spaces overlooking the ocean.

The resort is comprised of individual units owned by private investors and creates a sophisticated, contemporary and subtle new intrusion into the delicate dunal landscape. Simple lines, elegant proportions and a careful palette of materials and finishes create an award winning and beautiful new place for people to stay in the south west.

This resort is one of the most recently completed projects of this type in Western Australia and has been acknowledged as the best multiple residential project in the 2008 architectural awards.

Glenn Russell was the project architect for this project throughout the process and worked with Project Director Richard Young to create this outstanding resort.
