The transformation of a typical red brick house into a contemporary dwelling is no less stunning than in this design with excellent solar orientation and extensive views across Lake Macquarie.

The core focus of the project involved retaining and extending an existing open plan living space to maximise the site opportunities. This was created by the two ‘loggia’ that now straddle the central living space and create the dominant aesthetic of the building. Special metal finished panels and painted lime green sheet cladding are used on the loggia elements whilst the painted brickwork becomes an abstract, flowing connector of the materials and forms with the physical realities of the site.
