The renovation of this semi-detached heritage listed Victorian terrace in North Sydney maintains period detailing to the streetscape and front rooms, whilst embracing a wholly contemporary rear addition. In doing so, the constraints of the long, narrow site are overcome by way of the holistic integration of the exterior and interior spaces. A Terracade panel-clad box articulates the length of the dwelling, accommodating a flexible kitchen, dining and living overlay of indoors/outdoors. This open plan space also flows out to the rear courtyard, the depth of the space terminated by the dramatic 10m high sheer rock face.
