This three storey home overlooks Middle Harbour fom a leafy northern Sydney suburb. The original home was demolished and replaced with a new residence that captures the northerly aspect and water views. This was a key motivational factor during the architectural brief. The dwelling adds a modernist vernacular to the street and streetscape and complements the Walter Burley Griffin and Frank Lloyd Wright inspired houses that are scattered throughout the suburb. Concrete pre-cast walls are a dominant design feature within the streetscape and the overall palette of concrete finish and white articulate the modernist principles. The flat roof, large external overhangs, horizontal lines and vertical blades, in pre-cast concrete affirm a strong statement in the streetscape. The simple interior finishes of grey tiles and timber flooring against white plaster create an atmosphere of calm - providing a backdrop to the expansive bush and water views.
