To create a rural house that draws its inspiration from Australian station buildings with a New Zealand twist. Outdoor living was identified as a major design focus, with relaxed and open family living.

Mary Jowett Architects Response

The response to the site lead to an open gable face for the living areas, opening onto screened outdoor living areas, treated like rooms. The sleeping zones are separated in plan and form, closing down to more intimate spaces. The western red weatherboard cladding was chosen as a stable and versatile building material, with the black post and beam accents.
