The refurbishment of the Alma Tavern comprised 4 distinct areas linked by Moroccan inspired design elements.
Skybar 
Matthews Architects developed a ‘Mediterranean garden’ theme that incorporated distinct undercover seating areas serviced by a dedicated outdoor bar. The appropriately named ‘sky bar’ was the winner of the 2007 AHA SA best outdoor venue.
Dining Room 
Centrally located in the hotel between the bar areas Matthews Architects developed a design that utilised modern materials to contrast the bluestone walling of the original hotel. A striking metallic tiled feature wall incorporating an eye level fireplace is the focus of the room and a selection of seating options are provided.
Gaming Room
Matthews Architects designed a contemporary Gaming Room with a dedicated outdoor courtyard.
Lounge Bar
At a length of 25 metres, the central island bar is the significant design element of the space. Surrounding the central bar are a variety of discreet seating areas, providing different experiences for patrons.
