An original weatherboard house spanning two lots in an innercity area.

The original house maintains its integrity as a larger worker's cottage with narrow weatherboards and functional details.

The proposal removes the typical single storey additions to the rear and replaces with a reinterpretation of the weatherboard clad two storey cottage. This new space incorporates a new living space with children's loft above connected by a void running the length to the exisiting corridor that divides the original home. The addition is clad in a wide vertical steel "weatherboard" more often used on commercial buildings but here viewed as a highly appropriate response to context.
