"A contemporary addition onto an existing inner city cottage that respects its immediate context. The pitched roof form is re-interpreted and given an unexpected twist with the introduction of a double height volume at the rear of the site. The existing house has been carefully worked over to provide modern day living convenience. The exposed steel portal frame in the addition is an exception to the use of muted materials and detailing of the new building."
