With a street full of sandstone walls the client’s brief was to create something a little different, something that would individualize their front garden and create an entrance statement.

The solution was bluestone.

Bluestone feature walls are the primary design element, running along the front boundary and up the drive, acting as the gardens entrance structures. The cooling tones in the walls reflect the purples of the Jacaranda when in flower and tie into the seaside location.

The sloping site has been addressed by creating a series of sandstone terraced landings which add a spectacular contrast to the bluestone walls and allow direct movement through the garden.

The planting consists of an abundance of tropical colour from hedges of Viburmum odoratissimum & Buxus microphylla to accent plantings of Cordyline australis and Strelitzia reginae and tree plantings of Pyrus calleryana that screen the western boundary.

The design is finished with a touch of style using random placed railway sleepers within the top lawn terrace to draw the eye to a central spilling water feature.
